The Professional Land Surveyor Examination is offered twice a year in April and October. Applicants are required to apply to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation prior to scheduling the examination with Continental Testing Services.
The IDFPR application is available at IDFPR. Please select the Agency Link, Professional Regulation; select your profession, Land Surveyor; select the written examination and download the application for the Land Surveyor exam. Please submit the application to IDFPR with the requested documentation in order to be approved for examination. Once you have been approved by IDFPR you can apply to schedule examination using the online application process listed below.
The dates listed below are the Continental Testing Services Examination dates and Deadlines. Please note that IDFPR does have their own application deadline dates.
Beginning with the October 2010 examination, all applicants must also register with NCEES for examination and to obtain an identification number. All applicants must provide this number to Continental Testing Services when applying to us. If you do not register with IDFPR for approval and with Continental Testing Services to schedule your examination and with NCEES in order to obtain an ID number, you WILL NOT be scheduled for examination. You will be able to register with NCEES beginnining June 2012 for the October 2012 examination.
*Please note that NCEES has their own registration deadline and that this deadline is not the same as Continental Testing Services deadline.
No applicant will be allowed to register after the deadline for any reason.
NOTE:
All applications are valid for three (3) years from the date of receipt at IDFPR. You must complete a full application with all supporting documentation to IDPFR again upon application expiration.
